“Gruesome: Passionate Ethereal Bloody…”
Winston Salem Journal
[excerpt]
“Gruesome Playground Injuries,” is one strange love story, but, make no mistake: It is a love story – tender, passionate, ethereal and bloody.

Directed by Jim Wren, it is tight, congruent and theatrical. The inventive set by Vandy Scoates and lighting by Robyn Warfield create a sort of third character that watches over and illuminates the action. Translucent fabric panels provide changing areas on the stage, and in front of those are vanity tables where the actors apply makeup in the shadows.
